What
is Mesothelioma Lung Cancer?
(August 28th, 2010)
Mesothelioma stands for tumor of middle lining tissues. It
is an unusual and rare type of lung cancer that arises from
the cells that form a membrane that lines with the abdominal
cavity of the body (also known as peritoneal membrane or peritoneum).
In the below diagram, we show you the Peritoneum in blue font.

>>> Vitamin
B6 Reduces Risks of Developing Certain Lung Cancers
(June 18th, 2010)
In
a study published on the Journal of the American Medical Association,
European scientists concluded that Vitamin B6 lowers human
risks of developing certain lung cancers of periods of time.
Almost 520,000 adults were studied in the report which showed
those with higher than average blood levels of vitamin B6
as well as an amino acid called methionine were at lower risk
of catching lung cancer. Initially the scientists studied
almost 900 people who had developed lung cancer versus 1770
people who did not have lung cancer; also note these people
were of the same age, gender & country. This was done
to ensure the results of the study were consistent throughout
all the participants.

is Properly Managed, Controlled & Regulated in Kent Schools,
say Kent County Council Chiefs
(June 2nd, 2010)
Kent,
United Kingdom - According to a building inspection report
by an official from the Kent County Council Property Group
(KCCPG), schools in Kent, UK are more safer from Asbestos
than other schools in the United Kingdom and worldwide. This
came after an investigation conducted by BBC found that 92%
of all schools in Kent contained Asbestos. Peter Binnie, Operations
Head for the KCCPG quotes, "Schools in Kent have asbestos
in them but it is managed, controlled and identified in a
very stringent way so there is minimal risk to pupils and
teachers. Children are better protected there than they are
out in their own homes." (Read

month long recoveries, and all the pain & opportunity
costs associated with surgery. For lung cancer patients who
are now diagnosed with malignant tumors, specially trained
surgeons can make a couple of small cuts into the chest and
remove damaged lung tissues using a tiny video screen with
an open camera, to help them guide through the patient's chest
and towards the malignant tumors. This process is called Video-Assisted

Veterans who worked in the military were also at great risk

substances. Because of its resistance to heat & fire and

(January 2nd, 2010)
San Diego, California - A medical study team from the Medicine
School @ University of California is currently investigating
a new protein that is produced by Cancerous lung epithelial
cells that can inflammate or at least spur inflammation or
scarring of the lungs, leading to spread (metastasis) of lung
cancer. Their research will be published on the January 1st,
2010 issue of the Journal of Nature and will detail how Cancer
cells that have grown to advanced stages will force the immune
system of the body to generate a hostile micro-environment
for the spread and scarring of lung cancer. This research
could lead to discovery of ways of limiting the metastasis
(spread) of this deadly form of Lung cancer, which could significantly

Nanotubes & Development of Pleural Mesothelioma - Single-Walled
Carbon Nanotubes versus Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes, Products
& Applications, Chemical Properties & Diagrams
(December 29th, 2010)
Carbon nanotubes are tiny carbon molecules that have a nanostructure
and a length-to-diameter ratio greater than 10 million and
as high as 40 million. These carbon molecules are widely used
in nanotechnology science projects, optics, electronics and
in the field of materials science. They are so popular because
of their resistance to heat and heat conductor properties,
extreme strengths, super light weight and their applications
in electricity. As the use of carbon nanotubes grows, scientists
are trying to study their uses and conduct tests on them.
Scientists think that current uses of Carbon nanotubes can
lead to the development of Pleural mesothelioma,
which is a Cancer of the pleura or linings of the lungs. Scientists
ask the public not to be too concerned about the effects of
Carbon nanotubes as yet, however, they think the increasing
popularity of the substance definitely warrants further research
in to possible asbestos exposure occuring naturally from the
environment thanks to carbon nanotubes... (Read

Mesothelioma lung cancer & asbestos exposure is commonly
picturized as a bunch of men working around metal works or
shipyard industries or in a vermiculite mine with asbestos
products. While this is true to some extent, women are also
at equal risk of developing asbestos related diseases including
Asbestosis. Cases of women developing mesothelioma are rising
rapidly, and most of them occur through second hand asbestos
exposure. An instance of second-hand asbestos exposure is
when a husband who has worked around asbestos products in
his shipyard job comes home with asbestos fibers on his clothes
and his wife washes those clothes. The asbestos fibers could
easily diffuse from the husband's clothes and be inhaled by
the wife. Second hand asbestos exposure is not the only way
women develop mesothelioma or asbestos related diseases...
